Security BSides Puerto Rico 2016
Puerto Rico Lo Hacer Mejor, ‘Puerto Rico does it better.’
Which is why – now on its fourth year – Security BSides Puerto Rico is back! The information security community will once again converge at the Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan on October 6th 2016 for #BSidesPR 2016.
What is BSides?
Security BSides is the first grassroots, open security conference in the world. As hosts of four of the major annual security conferences, BSides has one of the biggest communities in information security.
Where Black Hat and DEF CON ends, however, BSides only begins. Beyond their four core conferences in Austin, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Washington DC, BSides also takes it to the streets – bringing together local infosec communities by offering a framework to host their own events. Because of this DIY approach, there are now more than 80 BSides communities all over the globe – from Algiers to Zurich!
Security in the Island of Enchantment
Security BSides Puerto Rico is organized by Obsidis Consortia, a not-for-profit organization aiming to promote professional development of information security for IT professionals, students, and enthusiasts, and raise security awareness to the general public.
For 2016, BSides PR gathered a long list of big names to present at the event. Headlining is the Security Researcher and Consultant of Black Hills Information Security and host of the Security Weekly podcast, Joff Thyer. Joining him is his co-host, Carlos Perez. Carlos is the Director of Reverse Engineering for Tenable Security, and a regular presenter in conferences such as DEF CON and Hack3rCon.
Another speaker to look forward to is Obsidis Consortia president and founder, Jose Quinones. He is the IT Director at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. Jose is also one of our long-time students, and a very good friend of eLearnSecurity.
